OMEX Environmental Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which nutrients my plant is lacking?

OMEX will analyse a sample from your treatment plant and assess which nutrients are missing in their fully equipped laboratory. OMEX are able to test for Nitrogen and Phosphorous, metals with ICP equipment, methane potential with their AMPTs equipment (Automatic Methane Potential Test) and neutralisation.

Which samples should I send to your laboratory for analysis?

For an aerobic wastewater plant OMEX require a sample of the influent, the aerobic reactor and final discharge effluent.

For an anaerobic system OMEX require a sample of influent, bio-sludge and effluent. Usually 200 ml of each is sufficient for laboratory analysis, along with details of the treatment problem. When the process is stable, samples only of bio sludge are needed with the occasional sample of influent and effluent.

Why do Digesters need Trace Elements?

Most digester feedstock lacks in essential elements such as Co, Fe, Ni and Se which are essential to the health and efficiency of a plants’ biology. OMEX TEAs can provide and augment these essential elements in a fully bioavailable form.

OMEX have a proven track record in the optimisation of Anaerobic Digester and Biogas Plants worldwide, supplied with full laboratory back up. OMEX TEAs show a proven increase in Biogas volume, an increase in Biogas quality (Methane content increases) and increased Digester stability.

How do I know how much product I need to dose?

OMEXs products have a standard daily dose rate which is adopted in the initial start-up phase. From there a plants performance will be strictly monitored and the dose rate will be increased or decreased dependant on its performance.

Do you provide equipment to dose your products?

OMEX supply, commission and install dosing systems for their septicity control and magnesium hydroxide solutions. The standard dosing unit is 2500 Litre capacity but sizes range from 1350 up to 10,000 Litre. The Dosing Systems are fully commissioned and installed and advice will be given on the daily dose rate required.
