Isomex 1 and 3 – Conventional liquid deicers popular in civil and military airports
Isomex 1 is OMEX’s conventional liquid de-icer, based on a potassium acetate solution. It gives effective ice control in places where chloride corrosion is a concern, such as airports, bridges, elevated reinforced structures and industrial sites. It is super-concentrated and applied undiluted, and stays active down to -50°C, well below the point where salt stops working. It is has a low biological oxygen demand and is non-hazardous to operators, which makes it a cleaner alternative to solid urea and glycol for runway de-icing.
Isomex 3 shares the same potassium acetate base as Isomex 1, but is formulated for enhanced holdover, so it stays active on the treated surface for longer before it needs reapplying. That suits runways, bridges and other exposed surfaces that need protection over an extended period.
